Bethel’s historical roots blend eco-tourism, land conservation, agrarian and timber industries, and education and innovation. Influenced by the philanthropy of William Bingham the 2nd, the Bethel community blends its natural assets into a way of being while honoring the arts and education. The Maine Mineral and Gem Museum, located a block from campus, houses the world’s largest collection of lunar meteorites and showcases the geologic history of the solar system. Bethel integrates trails and pathways of a community forest into the larger ecosystem of two state parks and enjoys the blue ribbon trout waters of the Androscoggin River. Amplifying the rich natural assets, a dynamic arts community is supported by a first-run independent movie theater. Bethel’s vibrant non-profit community provides unique opportunities for collaboration and the extension of learning beyond campus. And, yes, our proximity to Sunday River and other on-snow sport centers is the icing on the cake.
